An open-air museum of a city where royal tombs rise like grassy hills between ordinary streets, a thousand-year-old observatory still the oldest of its kind standing in Asia, and temple bells cast well over a millennium ago still rung on special occasions.
The best time to visit Gyeongju is Mar–May, Sep–Nov, when typical daytime highs reach about 20°C (69°F).
