An old town of canals and cobblestones built by the Naxi people and left almost untouched by the last few centuries, a snow-capped peak looming over the rooftops, and a gorge nearby with a trail cut into a sheer cliff face.
The best time to visit Lijiang is Mar–May, Sep–Nov, when typical daytime highs reach about 22°C (72°F).
