A whitewashed constitutional capital preserved almost entirely in colonial architecture, dinosaur footprints in a cement quarry outside town that draw palaeontologists as much as tourists, and a cooler, gentler climate than the rest of the country's highlands.

The best time to visit Sucre is Apr–Oct, when typical daytime highs reach about 21°C (69°F).
