Privacy
Where Next is a small tool for settling group holiday decisions. This page explains what it collects, in plain language, and why. The short version: nothing here is sold, and nothing is shared with third parties for advertising or marketing. The only use of your data is running your game and, in aggregate, making the recommendations better.
What's collected, and why
- Your session and answers. The names you enter and each traveller's answers to the eight questions, so the site can work out what fits the group. This lives only for the lifetime of your game (two days at most) and is then deleted.
- Votes on suggested destinations. If you vote a suggestion up or down, that vote, plus the quiz answers and destination ranking that produced it, is kept to improve future recommendations. It's tied to the anonymous game it came from, not to your name, session, or IP address. Nothing here is sent to the server unless you actually vote.
- Basic technical logs. Page loads, load times, and error reports, along with your IP address, your browser type and, if another website linked you here, that site's name (just the domain, never the full address), purely to keep the site reliable, catch abuse (e.g. automated overuse), and see which sites send visitors. When a game finishes, the winning destination is logged too (never the answers behind it, unless you vote). Kept for a limited period, then deleted.
- On your own device only. Your language and light/dark preference, and enough state to resume a game you were mid-way through if you reload the page. None of this ever leaves your device.
- A rough location guess, to suggest a starting airport. Cloudflare, which already handles every connection to this site, tells the page which country and roughly which city area your traffic is coming from, never anything more precise than that, and never your actual IP address. It's used only to put airports from your country at the top of the list and pre-fill the nearest major airport as a starting point; you can always pick a different one. No new party ever sees your location for this, since Cloudflare was already the one routing your connection.
- Messages sent through the contact form. Whatever name, email, and message you choose to enter, plus your IP address to deter spam. Used only to read and respond to what you sent.
What doesn't happen
Nothing collected here is sold. Nothing is shared with third parties for marketing or advertising. There are no ad trackers and no cross-site profiling. This isn't that kind of tool.
Who else sees anything
Delivering the site at all means traffic necessarily passes through our hosting provider and Cloudflare, who provide security and content delivery. These are infrastructure providers, not data-sharing partners, and neither of them receives your quiz answers or votes.
Your options
The menu lets you start over at any point, which clears everything saved on your device. If you'd like to get in touch, use the contact form.
Where Next is a personal project, not a company, and this policy is written to match that: plainly, and covering only what the tool actually does.
